The Divine Presence

What is the Presence?

The Presence is the One Life or Pure Consciousness. In our contact with the Presence we experience a responsive, loving Intelligence who feels infinite love for us and yet remains a mystery.

We can experience any form of relationship to this Presence as long as we reamin in duality. We may respond to the Divine as a Father, Mother, Friend, Beloved or Child connection and the quality of the relationship tends to be influenced by our early conditioning. If early relationships have been painful it tends to make us defensive and block our relationship to the Divine. this is the point where we need to undertake some form of healing to enable us to open our heart and experience the relationship.

It certainly came as a shock to me when I realised that my love and yearning for God was so great that I had distanced myself from Him for years by using my mind as a veil. It was shown to me in a convincing way that I had feared being dissolved in the Presence. When that veil fell away recently the union was so powerful that if the radiant outpouring of love and life had been any greater I would have been dissolved. In some way the Divine knew how much energy to use to anchor Its Presence in my mind and heart.

The Need for Relationship

Ultimately, life is about relationships, so if our relationships appear to have failed us then we may resist a living relationship to the Divine. This amounts to a rejection of any and all relationships because the Divine is the One Life and nothing exists outside of It. If we don't have a living relationship to the Divine we tend to feel a lack on all levels. Much of the preliminary spiritual work consists in finding ways to remove the blocks and obstacles imposed by our own experience. These blocks get laid down as impressions deep in our subconscious and act as veils over Reality. I want to emphasize here that we can have a living relationship with God as the Presence.

The Divinity or Spiritual Hierarchy - Who Are They?

"People will freely respond only to those individuals who are chosen
as leaders, because they are proven and trusted as servants."

The Divinity or Spiritual Hierarchy are a group of enlightened beings also known as the Brotherhood of Light. They belong to the 5th Kingdom of Nature, those of humanity who have been able to master the physical, emotional and mental levels of consciousness. They oversee the spiritual evolution of our planet and can assist those who wish to serve in a like manner. The Divinity are realised Souls who live in the experience of Oneness with the Presence. They form an intuitive group consciousness, one which manifests as loving-wisdom and is completely one with the divine Will.

This group of inclusive Souls are really one composite body, a communion of Souls, for where there is Realisation only Oneness is experienced. They serve the divine Plan and their activities are dedicated to awakening their younger fellow Souls to Reality.

In their capacity as servants of the Divine they are able to show us the path ahead in our own evolution. As we progress in our own attempt to love and serve our fellow humanity, as well as the animal, plant and mineral kingdoms below us, our aura gradually purifies. The increasing radiance of our aura attracts those we are linked to by karma and pledge and gradually we have glimpses of the Hierarchy, many of whom are very human and happy to assist those whose motive is genuine and sincere.

In the past 125 years a group of the Masters have taken on a special role in helping to facilitate Humanitys' spiritual evolution. This group has supported the development of many groups in the West, including the Theosophical Society, Arcane School and Builders of the Adytum. This group of Masters from different ray lines are involved in joint work to help humanity gain a greater awareness of our role on the planet. They include the Masters Morya, Kuthumi, Djwhal Khul and Rakoczi.

We have also had many other living Masters from the east who manifest great qualities of love and creative endeavour. These have included Ramana Maharshi, Shri Yogendra and more recently Sri Sri Ravi Shankar and Bhagavan Kalki.

Some Impressions

The following anecdotes illustrate some of the contacts I have had with members of the Spiritual Hierarchy. Communications with them have normally taken the form of visual or telepathic contacts in meditation. However, impressions of a much more subtle nature also occur, especially when I am writing or reading. These impressions are almost seamless to the workings of one's own intellect, except that the blissful energy and depth of insight gained indicate that some one or some idea is wishing to impress itself upon my mind. Someitmes you only discover the purpose after following through on the recommendations that have been made.  The insight and beauty that flows from such contacts is undeniable. These examples demonstrate some of the different ways in which we can have contact with these Souls.

On one retreat I attended, the Master Koot Humi appeared to me as Balthazar, one of the 3 Magian priests. He was joined by Melchizedek, who appeared as a portly Hebrew priest, dressed in a simple Jewish priest's girdle and gown. Balthazar, probably in order to symbolise the purpose of the grail, poured the shimmering contents of a beautiful cup into his mouth and this living stream of water flowed endlessly, demonstrating the need to share the "Waters of Life" with others.

He then announced to me that the Portal of Initiation awaited and an image of the portal was shown to me. I demurred at this idea and then straight away the statement was repeated more emphatically, "The Portal of Initiation". They didn't want me to have any doubt about what I was hearing.

The Master Rakoczi who has been patiently waiting for me to commence some service activity for Hierarchy, once interviewed me in his study, in the manner described in the article "The Approach of the Teacher" on the Articles page. Previous to this he had shown me how my lower mind/will was protesting at having to surrender itself to my destiny. He appeared to a clairvoyant during a reading I was given and tied a female crystal around my waist to try and calm down my solar plexus centre, which was very  much in conflict. The conflict was due to the fear my lower will was manifesting as I became more involved in things "unseen".

My first contact with the Master DK occurred at the end of a retreat in 1998 during a group meditation. He simply walked up from the background of my inner vision and gazed at me in a very detached fashion. He had the appearance of an elderly Tibetan or Mongolian and had very high cheekbones and a closely shaven beard. After gazing at me for a few moments, he then turned around without a word and walked away. After the meditation was over I turned to my mentor who was sitting next to me during the meditation and asked him, "Who do we know who wears a Fez?" He looked at me a little bemused and replied "the Master DK"  I couldn't have been more surprised and it illustrates how inner contacts may be confirmed by others after the experience happens. After this interaction my mind felt like it was vibrating at an extremely fast rate and took some time to return to normal.

When I was collecting my thoughts and material to start writing the book "Spiritual Psychology and the Ageless Wisdom",  I was told that my aunt had some esoteric books she wanted to give away and asked if I might want them?  Given we were rarely in touch and that she knew nothing of the book I was writing, I felt the timing was interesting, especially when the books turned out to be a full set of  Helena Blavatsky's "The Secret Doctrine" and 2 copies of Alice Bailey's "A Treatise on Cosmic Fire". Having looked at  'the Doctrine", I could see it was similar to my own perspective, which had been shaped by both yogic and hermetic philosophies. The material revealed in "Cosmic Fire", especially the details on the Egoic Lotus, will continue to be very relevant to my work.

Once while meditating I felt the familiar flow of energy into my Crown centre and a wave of energy opening up my Brow centre. Slowly, the image of a circle was drawn in iridescent red ink and the communicator said in a very loving manner, "This is my circle". He then drew a smaller one that intersected part of his, but also had a part outside of it. He then said, "This is your circle, ..... you need to expand it." And so, in this simple and subtle way, I was encouraged to start to build more relationships with fellow travellers on the Path. And this is what the website and the School is all about. This Teacher's encouragement, along with the the others has gradually led me to commence some service activities.
