About John

John Waters formed the PATH Centre several years ago out of an urge to offer practical and grounded guidance for people on the Path. At this time he had several visions about the nature of the Path which set him reflecting on the direction these activities should take and he decided they should focus on spiritual psychology.

John has experienced a wide variety of roles in his working life including jobs as a zookeeper, foreign affairs clerk, baker, psychologist and student. At age 19 he rediscovered the spiritual path and trained in classical yoga, joined a spiritual community and learned about the challenges of spiritual service. After training as a psychotherapist in the early 90's John worked as a psychologist and counsellor serving in the tertiary education field, first as a counsellor and later in management.

In the latter role he co-ordinated a team of psychologists and developed expertise in psychological counselling, clinical supervision, organisational coaching, critical incident stress management and mediation. He has also conducted meditation programs for students and staff and in 2004 organised a series of meditation seminars by teachers from 12 different spiritual traditions. John recognises the underlying unity of all religious and spiritual traditions and his work is amenable to all who seek psychological and spiritual insight, whatever their backgrounds.

John is a registered psychologist and has professional qualifications in psychology, psychotherapy, hypnosis and mediation. He has also practised yoga and esoteric disciplines for over 30 years and in this time has had the privilege of learning from a number of respected yogis, adepts and seers from both the east and west.

Through the Centre John and his coworkers are offering training that aligns with the activities of the Spiritual Hierarchy and represents an opportunity for those who seek a genuine pathway to spiritual realisation.
