Father of Mine
I keep falling into
the abyss of my little
self,
Please throw me a
rope so that I can pull
myself out,
But let me not
worship that rope.
What is it that
draws me away from You?
Is it my attachment
to the things of the world,
Or my delusions of
fear and pain?
Help me to forget
myself.
For I choose You
and no other,
Give me the key to
my little cage.
You are closer than
hands and feet to me,
Yet this world
still threatens to devour me,
Save me O Saviour,
Heart of my heart.
Thank you for this
hunger,
For when I feel it
I know that You are near,
And realise nothing
else can satisfy it but You.
Eliminate my desire
for the world,
and feed my desire
for You alone,
For in your
Presence I become Whole again.
I have left the
market place of human
expectations,
And am ascending
the mountain of Truth,
Sustained only by
glimpses of your Presence,
I push ever onward
and upward.
Awaiting signs of
your Grace,
For I have long
since surrendered all to You.
